Masonic Child ID Program
There
is no one among us that does not cringe and pray when we
hear of a missing or abducted child. The Masonic Fraternity
can and is helping. The Child ID videotape program has an
impact. Masonic ID tapes have already been used by
authorities to help in recovering children. Thousands of
tapes have helped thousands of families sleep better at
night. Thousands more need to be done.
The Child ID
videotape program is, without question, one of the best,
most effective program ever introduced by Masonry in New
York State. For centuries Masons have believed in and
supported the family as being the most important part of our
lives and the lifeblood of our society, and our country. By
providing this service we support the security and safety of
children. These children deserve safety and their families
need the security that these tapes offer.
Registration is the first step in the
process. Here the permission slips are filled out by the
parent or legal guardian and the boxes that will hold the
tapes are prepared, along with a placard that indicates the
child's name and today's date..
Once inside taping room the child and parent are greeted by
a friendly cameraman and interviewer. The child, if old
enough, is asked questions pertaining to age, likes,
dislikes, and best friends. If the child is to young, the
parent responds to the questions.
Remember, no child can be replaced, but
we can help to make thousands safer. The reward is simple,
yet deeply moving. We perform this service at absolutely no
charge to any family. What each Mason receives is the
warm feeling that comes from the deep and sincere gratitude
of all the families whose children have been taped.
After the
taping, each video is reviewed to ensure quality standards.
Those that are found to be substandard are immediately
redone and the parents are given the "bad" tape to
take with them. All forms are given to the parents to keep,
only the permission slip is retained.
